The Santa Fe Opera 2025 Summer Internship

Stitcher/Dresser

Below is a culmination of projects I worked on throughout the summer. I got quite caught up in the whirlwind and forgot to take a bit of photos. But I am very proud of the work I accomplished with my fellow apprentices, stitchers, first hands, and my draper. Whether I had a hand in building a garment, altering it or putting the fasteners on, it was a crazy fun ride to be apart of the machine that puts these amazing shows together. I only wish I had captured more of it haha !

The Santa Fe Opera 2025 Apprentice Scenes

Wardrobe Supervisor

The apprentice scenes at the Santa Fe Opera take place the last few weeks of contract once the build staff leaves, there were seven different scenes all from different operas with twenty-six apprentice singers taking on these rolls. Apprentices would apply for positions like designer, design assistant, first hand, crafts supervisor, and wardrobe supervisor.

After applying, I was trusted with the position of wardrobe supervisor! I took the wardrobe templates and made a run sheet, check in/out sheets, rack/ditty labels, and also pulled unders and labeled them for each artist. In some cases the artist preferred using there unders from a show that was already running. That required tracking it down before the show and making sure everything was laundered and placed back in the right ditty bags before the next show. It was an amazing opportunity where afterwards I truly felt I had grown as a dresser and supervisor. Below I have some examples of my paperwork I used to help successfully run these scenes!
